This is your brain on TEA

Thu Oct 23, 2008, 4:07 AM
So I got sick. I had a fever of maybe 37.6 or something, which isn’t too bad (I asked the brit); it was going to the hospital which was scary, because I had no idea of what to expect (Thank god I had Daisy Montessa the ISEP coordinator or I’d have died), and quite frankly when the nurses saw me I think they panicked. They were all in these pink costumes; I’d like to forget it but I don’t think I will be. And they handed me a thermometer and motioned for me to put it under my arm pit—at the front desk, and when I did, they told me, “No, under your clothes.” Yeah, gotcha.
The doctor was both a woman and knew English; I spoke to her mostly in Japanese but froze up when I had to say, “I usually get asthmatic bronchitis this time every year.” So I just told her in English and she said it in Japanese. I got better after she put me on four medicines, none of which was an inhaler.
On a completely different note, I remembered a few days ago when I was in high school and just starting Japanese I saved this candy wrapper in hopes that I would one day be able to read it. I threw it out a few years later when I finally could, and I was reminded of it when I bought an exported bag of lays potato chips. I proudly held them up in front of my classmates, who said, “I don’t like those.” My response? “I don’t either.” The whole bag is in english, and it tasted like home. I considered keeping it as a reminder that there is at least one country that I know of what I am not cripplingly illiterate.
I used to like international food stores in the states, and now I love them. I almost cried the last time I went there, and I threw my arms around the creamy smuckers peanut butter. That stuff is amazing. Scottish Kelly was also there and she had a similar reaction upon seeing Scottish porraige. All I want is a Luigi’s Pizza, a basket of shoestring fries from Rocko’s, and a year’s supply of Nachos from Taco Bell. I want that SOOO much. I want real food. No more rice.
But tea can stay with me forever. I have evolved into a bonifide tea junkie complete with my favorite tea café. Next time I go to Sakae I am going to buy myself a tea kettle because steeped tea is in but Japan uses loose leaves instead of bags I feel. That needs its own kettle, and I need my whipped tea too. I’ve never had caked tea, but I’m not sure if that sounds appetizing or not.
Pizza. You know I love ya.

Is it shameful that I totally know what this is?

Weirder things have happened.
:iconjamesraymor:
It's about four miles down the Nankoweap trail. The Nankoweap trail is one of the backcountry trails in Grand Canyon National Park and is accesed(er...sp?) either from the river or from the North Rim. This tree and cliff are along Mariam Ridge. Umm... More so it was near a camp(un-marked) I worked out of for about eight days around the solstice. hope that helps.
